Scary fraud stats keeping retailers up at night

Fraud & Verification

When it comes to cyber security 2017 has been a year of horror stories, with reports of data breaches and cyber-attacks appearing almost weekly.

Research carried out by fraud prevention body Cifas has shown that identity theft has hit epidemic levels. In the first half of this year alone there’s been 89,000 cases of identity fraud carried out almost exclusively online in the UK.* To put this into perspective, that’s equivalent to a staggering 492 incidents every day for the first six months of 2017.

This reality is especially haunting for retailers who are under pressure to ensure transactions are safe and secure, without impacting on the overall customer experience.

With this in mind, we wanted to find out more about consumer attitudes. We surveyed over 2000 consumers aged 18 plus to see what their attitudes are towards protecting against online fraud.
