An ex-financial boss who was caught defrauding the London Philharmonic Orchestra out of £645,000 has been told to expect imprisonment.

Cameron Poole, 36, forged signatures to get money to pay for artwork, flights, jewellery and a house extension.

He pleaded guilty at Southwark Crown Court to fraud by abuse of position and acquiring and using criminal property.

Judge Deborah Taylor said Poole's most likely sentence will be time in jail. He was granted bail and will be sentenced on September 28.

The High Court had ordered Poole In February to pay the orchestra £2.3 million. At the time Andrew Thomas, lawyer for the orchestra, said Poole fraudulently used cheques and credit cards and made false entries in the company accounts.

The orchestra is based in the Royal Festival Hall.
