What is an Association?

Associations are links held by credit reference agencies that indicate two people have a financial connection.

We will not hold associations on our database until later this year, however Electoral Roll information relating to other individuals may appear on your credit file. In the future Callcredit will not automatically associate individuals with the same surname, residing at the same address. To create an association between two people Callcredit must see evidence of a financial relationship between them. For instance, we will create an association if a lender advises us that a joint account has been opened.

In the future we will only create a disassociation on your credit file if an association already exists. To find out in the future whether you are associated with anyone you will need to request a copy of your credit file from us. If your credit file contains an association connecting you with a person you no longer have a financial connection with, you should write to us to apply for a disassociation. We will investigate and make any necessary amendments to your credit file.

Please click here to complete a disassociation form.

Why does my credit file contain Electoral Roll information about other people?

The Electoral Roll is not a financial record and your current and previous addresses will show all the names that are currently on the Electoral Roll at these addresses. Please be assured that the fact that other names appear within the Electoral Roll section of your credit file does not imply that you share a financial connection with them.
