Almost a third of all women have lied to her partner about credit card debt, a new survey has shown.
The survey, carried out for the Financial Service Authority (FSA), found that many people find talking about their credit problems harder than talking about sex or previous partners.
Almost a third of women said that they had previously lied about their credit problems, with 29 per cent of men saying that they had done so.
Another 40 per cent of couples said that they lied about the money that they spent on luxury items. Not talking about their credit history seems to be taking a toll on many, however, with money problems keeping 35 per cent awake at night.
Finance trouble was the top rated cause of anxiety, beating career problems and health issues as the number one cause of sleepless nights.
"Not knowing how to bring up the subject of money with a loved one without sounding accusatory, mean, or overly serious, can cause incredible relationship stress," psychologist Christine Webber told the Daily Mail.
