The third annual Skipton Information Group football tournament took place Saturday 22nd September with twelve Yorkshire companies taking part in a gripping 5-a-side football tournament. Sixteen teams fought it out for the Callcredit Prostate Cancer Cup, with dozens of local supporters on the sidelines cheering their teams on.
The tournament has raised £3500 over the past 3 years, with all proceeds going directly to charity. Event Organiser Gavin McNaughton, Head of Commercial Services at Callcredit commented, “Our tournament this year was the biggest and most successful yet. We had members from our own staff and from clients and suppliers right across Yorkshire playing some very good football and having great fun. We’re very pleased to support The Prostate Cancer Charity, and to help raise awareness about a cancer that will affect one in eleven men.”
The main focus of the day was raising awareness and getting men talking to each other about prostate cancer. Denise Bailey, Corporate Partnerships Manager at the Prostate Cancer Charity, said: “We are very grateful to everyone at Skipton Information Group for their support of The Prostate Cancer Charity once again. Their efforts will help the Prostate Cancer Charity continue to help raise awareness of the disease that kills one man every hour in the UK. It is great to see so many football teams and players turn out to help tackle what has been a much neglected cause.
